Hello Good Looking

I couldn't wait to share what happened this morning. I was getting William dressed for school and as we were walking past a mirror in the hallway William turned to look at himself and said while pointing at the mirror, "Looking Good"!!! I couldn't stop laughing. He was so calm, cool and collective it was classic.

Update

The past few weeks nothing exciting has been going on. Chris started work in Houston and I'm packing up getting ready for our move. William has had this horrible cough for the past few days that is finally starting to taper off. Coughs seem like the hardest things to get rid of. Last night Uncle Christian came to visit and have dinner with us and spend quality time with William.
William tried so hard to stay awake waiting for his Daddy!

As William was eating dinner, I noticed Wlliam holding his cup with his pinkie sticking straight up. It made me think, there are a ton of things that he does that resemble mine and Chris' behavior. I don't know if my pinkie is up when I drink, maybe it is and I never noticed but after dinner we all pigged out on some Chips Ahoy cookies. William started to eat and pick out the chocolate chips...I did that growing up! I remember my brothers getting so mad at me for putting cookies back in the bag without the chocolate chips.

Another thing I noticed that reminds me of Chris is William's need for perfection and organization. At soccer practice William stopped in mid practice to straighten all the soccer balls and line them up just perfectly. He also does that with his cars, he puts them in color order, from biggest to smallest. I just love his thought process. He also has to make sure he's tucked in bed just perfectly and the sheets have to be all folded neatly. And finally, Chris' mom has always told me stories of Chris freaking out when he would get dirty. William is the exact same way. If he happens to drop something on his shirt, I have to change it or he can't finish dinner. If his hands are the least bit sticky, they have to washed immediately. Don't get me wrong, he loves to get dirty, but when it's expected. No surprises for this little boy!!

William organizing the balls during practice!

I just think it's so awesome how children take on the characteristics of their parents, so if I must say so myself...William is one cool kid!!

Moving...again

I just can't believe how fast time goes by when you're having fun. We signed a short lease at our town home praying that God would have more of a plan for us in 6 months. Just recently Chris was offered a wonderful opportunity with a previous employer in Houston that we just couldn't resist. So we are moving back where it all began. Believe me when I say we struggled with this decision. For the past 3 years we have made Austin our home and grew to love this city so much. My parents and brother all live here and there is no doubt that there will be a tearful departure. We did the pros and cons list and went back and forth on every possible scenario. Chris and I finally surrendered, if God wants it to happen it will. We feel very confident that we are headed in the right direction. We have so many wonderful opportunities in Houston. For starters we are leaving apartment living behind and renting my parent's house in Katy. I'm so excited to be living in a home again. No more walking Roxy, William has more room to play and just maybe the Addison bunch can grow! Chris is off to start this journey earlier than William and I. He starts work on Thursday and I will be packing our lovely belongings yet again. Our plan is to be completely moved out/in by June.

So last night Chris and I explained to William the big news and here is our conversation.

Mom - "William guess what, Daddy got a job..."
William - "A job? That's great news, good job Daddy!!"
(I'm not kidding, this really happened)

(Chris and I started laughing because he sounded so mature)

Mom - "Daddy will be going to Houston soon and will be on a trip"
William - "Oh Daddy don't leave me you are my best friend."

(Then the tears started to roll)

Dad - "But William, you will be in Houston soon. We are going to live there together in a house as a family!"
William - "Oh that is AWESOME, SUPER COOL, I can't wait!!"

I just love our conversations, William just cracks me up!! So the Addison's are moving back to Houston....watch out!!!

Funny Stuff

I just think William is growing into one funny child. Almost on a daily basis he is saying or doing something new that blows my mind. The other day he fell down and scratched his forehead and nose. After telling him that boo-boos go away and everyone has them he began to point some of them out. "Daddy has a boo-boo on his knee (he just has surgery), I have a boo-boo on my face and Mommy has pimples!" Chris and I were dying laughing, I just love my child for reminding me that I sometimes suffer from adult acne. And I'm now learning that he really is paying attention to the music I listen too. The other day Pink's So What song came on and he broke out his imaginary microphone to sing the chorus almost word for word. Talk about hilarious, he even plays the air guitar while singing it. In addition to Pink, he's become a fan of Jason Mraz's I'm Yours and Queen's We are the Champions. All of which he has a guitar solo and breaks out his best Michael J. Fox Back to the Future impression. I'm not kidding, I can't get to the camera fast enough, he is on the floor going in circles and sliding on his back...it's priceless! Also, when he does something well during a game or if we agree with him he loves to say..."That's what I'm talking about." Where does he get this stuff at? I love it!

Easter Sunday

Everyday should be Easter, aside from the fun traditions of decorating eggs and the Easter Bunny it's a celebration of our Risen Savior. I tried to explain this celebration to William. I must say, I should have attempted this with a picture book. I got the head tilt and a bunch of "huh's" and realized, maybe next year. It made me think how was I going to explain something so important to a 3 year old that most adults have a hard time grasping. Jesus Christ once walked on this earth, died on the cross and rose from the grave...wow, incredible. William will understand this one day, and until that day comes I will remind him constantly of God's love and grace.

On Saturday we first went to church for pancakes and an Easter egg hunt, William made out like a bandit and shared so well. The kids were only suppose to get about 8 eggs or so, well William had about 15 and he went back and hid the extra ones, such a sweet boy! Right after church we ran a few errands and William unfortunately had a battle with the sidewalk...the sidewalk won and left him with a few horrible scratches on his forehead and nose. Poor thing, Chris and I felt so bad for him. Then we went to Nanny's house for some more fun and egg decorating. Uncle Robert came to town and so did Aunt Diana. We had a wonderful dinner, colored eggs and relaxed the rest of the night. When Uncle Christian and Uncle Robert get together it's always interesting and entertaining. It was a miracle that William was able to decorate an egg or two. The decorating then turned to who could make the best egg and Christian and Robert stepped it up a notch. Apparently PAAS doesn't provide enough in their decorating kit so Christian and Robert had to break out the sharpies, tape and scissors.

Sunday was a great day. We went to church then came home to find all the eggs the Easter Bunny hid. We were missing one at first and found it after the search party was called out. Could you imagine a hard boiled egg missing? The thought of that smell makes me cringe. Then the rest of the day was spent eating and watching the Masters. After the Masters, the boys were inspired to hit some golf balls, I even attempted to hit a few myself. It was a great weekend with the family!!

Bluebonnets

Texas is so beautiful in the Spring time, although the weather sometimes feels like it's already summer. The Texas wildflowers are in bloom and the highways are smothered in blue, red and yellow. It almost makes driving enjoyable. On Friday we drove into Houston and stopped at a few spots in Brenham and Chappell Hill to take some pictures of William. Roxy even got in on the fun! One of my friends took pictures of her kids in Chappell Hill and I had to do the same. She found this wonderful spot that we just loved!

Soccer....Go Lions

Yesterday was William's first soccer practice. He did EXCELLENT and most importantly had a blast. They were given out uniforms, which I must say are very nice for the YMCA and chose a team name....The Lions. All the kids are adorable and caught on very well. William still travels into la-la land and we have to tell him every once in a while to pay attention to the coach and follow the team. There were almost a few near scuffles when the kids didn't want to share the balls, but the coaches did great defusing and anticipating any near disagreements. They practiced stopping the ball, dribbling and kicking goals. William is a lefty...so crazy! His jersey number is 2.

I was doing some research to see what other famous soccer players donned the number 2 jersey. Here's what I came up with, Gary Neville (Manchester United), Stephen Carr (Newcastle United), and Michel Salgado (Real Madrid). I have no idea who these guys are but they are Googable!
I can't wait for the games and more practices, William is really loving soccer!

None of the kids wanted to put down their ball for fear of sharing!

GOOOO LIONS!!!

Looks like he's about to take a penalty shot...so intense.

Check out that fancy foot work.
